The 60' diameter spherical theater Daily Planet is the centerpiece of Nature Research Center.
With 6 projectors across the 45' X 45' screen, The Daily Planet shows can be viewed from 3 floors.
We spent 6 weeks in the "globe" programming our 55 mini science stories.
Programming the multichannel immersive audio in the round 3-story space was a big challenge.
Making sure all of our beautiful wildlife footage looks great assembled and blown up huge.
Each story used a combination of video projection, lighting and audio design.
Some of our stories were fun and interesting graphic interpretations of science.
Each one of those swirling wild flowers can be found in the fields of North Carolina.
Stepping in to the bottom floor, the globe above is alive with color, music and motion.
Hanging out on the 2nd floor balcony you are in the middle of the story.
We created 17 hands-on science and technology interactives.
The 47 media exhibits spread throughout the 80,000 sqf. building cover science subjects like climate research, conservation biology, deep space exploration.
50,000 people attended NRC and the Daily Planet on opening day.
